This is Your Birthday Knocking

Just weeks before my birthday, the most unbelievable opportunity knocked on my door - the opportunity to spend my birthday week on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.  There is no appropriate reply to that knock other than, "hell yes" (or, in order to start practicing Spanish a.s.a.p., "infierno si").  And so Barry and I went.

We visited amazing ancient Mayan ruins, we swam in the bluest water I've ever seen, and we had our fair share of Margaritas.  All of that was awesome.  But the best part of the trip, without question, was the time we spent at a gorgeous hacienda in what felt like the middle of nowhere.  We stayed in a beautiful thatched roof villa surrounded by lush vegetation.  There we stuck to our two-day agenda of enjoying the sun, take a million photos of the gardens around us, splashing in the water, reading a ton, and exploring a nearby-ish town.

More photos of the rest of the week to follow...

Happy Belated Birthday!
First Hawaii and now the Yucatan? You're turning into a regular old tourist. But always capturing it with your unique eye.
