It's Beginning to Look A Little Like

We started holiday preparations earlier than usual.  We're keeping our gift-giving, decorations and holiday plans very simple.  It took me a long time to figure out that I needed to do that.  And it took me even longer to figure out how to do it.  For most of my adult life, this time of year really stressed me out.  But I'm over that now.

I'm relishing the thought of upcoming evenings, cold and dark, sitting by the lights of the tree, getting cozy with books and blankets, and working on craft projects or making cookies if I feel like it.  Maybe I'll watch a Christmas movie or two (any favorites to suggest?).  And I'll definitely drink a few seasonal beers from local breweries.  Sounds good to me.

Say good-bye to Christmas Spirit Sue.

Can I have your Christmas season? That sounds so much more appealing than mine.

We only watch Elf once a year and I think we'll do that this coming Saturday morning. *Love* getting up on a Saturday only to crawl up on the sofa with a movie! Your home is fabulous. I have been looking for a large industrial size mixer beater for years. You beat me to it!

I don't know how this happened, but "The Family Stone" has become my new Christmas movie as of a couple years ago, it used to be "About a Boy." This year I am going super minimal, a few tea lights surrounded by Christmas cards.

Merry Christmas (and stay away from malls in Portland... scary stuff!)

Suzy, your house looks phenomenal! I love your minimal decorations, but really, cannot stop looking at your gorgeous rug! The pinecones in a vase are so sweet!

I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing Christmas! We're looking forward to a laid-back one as well, and everyone has pared down on gift giving so we can just enjoy family and have fun :)

Every Christmas, I think of the sweet stories you've told about how your Dad made the season so special for you. It brings this person who has never met you joy just thinking of it :) xo, Mariss

Oh, movie suggestions!!!

I also have to watch Elf annually. And Love Actually. Mike's family watches Scrooged every year. Sometimes I think Die Hard counts as a holiday movie. And don't judge me, I'm a sucker for The Holiday!
