When You Get a Quote for $30,000...

on a dream remodel for your bathroom, you reevaluate your dreams.  When faced with that quote, Barry and I realized that we don't, in fact, dream about bathrooms.  We dream about travel, we dream about time outdoors, we dream about our future together.  Custom built vanities and surround tile don't even knock on our dream door.

A comfortable home is important to us, though.  And the one and only bathroom in our place was so ugly that it caused us discomfort.  Our space was an office in a former life and the uninspired bathroom showed it.  We would have loved to change the fixtures and do a fancy build out in the bathroom, but it's hard to argue with spending less than seventy bucks on paint, a shower curtain, and a toilet paper roll, which has done the trick for now.  It's not a  show-stopping bathroom by any means, but it's finally comfortable.  And with this little project checked off our to-do list, we can get back to dreaming about summer camping trips.

You pulled that together beautifully! From your photos it does look like a large room. I wonder why they didn't start out with a sink vanity to fill in the space and give you a counter top? I've had paint chips hanging in my bathroom for about a year. Once the garden is planted and mulched maybe I'll move the master bath to the top of the list.

The gray makes a huge difference, nicely done. $30k is an insane amount to spend on a bathroom.

Looks ah-mazing! Having the hubby look at this to prove dark colors in a small room isnt a bad thing!
