Dear Minneapolis,

I'm sure that if we met under different circumstances, I'd think you're one cool city. But with all of our delayed - and most recently canceled - connecting flights at your airport, you're going to have to work really hard to win me over. I promise to give you another chance, but right now, I'm not impressed with the stinky Ramada in the Mall of America parking lot.

Sincerely,
Susan

Awww! I can't think of a single positive thing about a canceled flight! Good luck getting home!

Oh no! that's no fun. Well, you managed to get some good shots out of a not-so-good situation.
I am glad because this means you are home! Hope the visit with your family was wonderful - I am sure it was!

Dear Sue,

Technically, we've never met. The stinky Ramada you encountered is in Bloomington. See you next time!

Love,
Minnepolis

Sorry, I'm typing on a keyboard at the Ramada.

Oh no! Minneapolis is probably super apologetic and wants to make it up to you. Seriously, when I was there in March almost every Minnesotan I met was super apologetic about the blah weather.

I used to feel the same way about St. Louis. It seems that every flight I took for about 10 years was routed through St. Louis + never on time so I would have to run like the wind to make the connecting flight (I used to joke about the amount of cashmere scarves I lost during these mad dashes). Well several years later I met + fell in love with a guy from St. Louis + after many non-airport trips to the city I can see why Bob Costas adopted it as his home town.

That hotel was previously the Thunderbird - I always loved staying there. Certainly less exciting if you aren't there by choice. The first time my family went there my dad and I walked across that parking lot to get to the newly opened MOA - very exciting for a 13 year old girl growing up in WV with limited shopping. Also they have an indoor pool decorated with kitschy native american symbols.

Yeah, unless you want to go to IKEA, I don't think that part of town has much to offer. Unless you know how to get down to the river, which is actually quite lovely. Sorry about the dumb cancelled flight :(
