Sickness has its Benefits

One thing I love about being sick (I'm still trying to get over this lingering cold) is that I get to stay home all day long guilt-free - something I don't usually experience between working and trying to get out and be active on the weekends. I really enjoy how different our place looks and feels in the light of day as opposed to its nighttime character. It's nice to just stay in and poke around the apartment while the sun lights it up.

Being sick has also seriously upped my television viewing time. Barry and I are now totally hooked on 30 Rock and (I can't believe I'm typing this out loud) have been religiously following The Biggest Loser. We've also been renting several television series that we've missed out on since we don't have cable. Curb Your Enthusiasm is killing me in the best way possible (especially season two, episode one, in which Larry David does a brilliant impression of a Maury Povich guest... brilliant I tell you), and I'm loving Project Runway. I know, I know, we are so late to the game on these. So tell me, dear television-watching friends, what series have you been addicted to? I may just need one more week on the sofa.

Once you're done with the American version, try the Australian version of Project Runway. I actually liked it best of all the versions. And if you still need more, the Canadian one is okay.

If you love Project Runway you'll adore Signe Chanel. :)

Do you watch The Office? That is on before 30 Rock. It's very, very funny.

Also, my new favorite show is on Thursday night, on USA. It's called Burn Notice. So good. So funny. Seriously. I want to be a spy when I grow up :)

Yes, the office is hilarious. And I'm a big Weeds fan. I just love that show!

So glad to hear you're feeling better. I wish I could have spent my sick days feeling way less guilt. I need to work on that...

I'm a fan of Big Love and Deadwood.
Those two "programs" (as my grandma would say) are well worth another week on the couch.

L.

We used to only watch shows on DVD (Netflix) but this year with hulu I admit to keeping up with The Office (although it is getting kind of dumb). Loved Curb Your Enthusiasm. Loved Six Feet Under, The Office (British), and Arrested Development. Obvious choices I guess, but all really good.

Hope you are better soon! A guest room outside Seattle awaits you :)

I am with Nadia. Australian Project Runway has only just begun (season 2 is coming soon and I can't wait) and IT WAS FANTASTIC.

My Favourites are

The Rachel Zoe Project
America Next Top Model
Miami Ink
LA Ink

I always watch reruns of sit coms too. :*)

Hope you are feeling better.

I am so with you! I've just become addicted to 30 Rock as well, after having avoided it for no good reason for the last 2 and a half seasons. And we've been burning through the first season of Mad Men, and I'm going to be seriously disappointed until the second season comes out on DVD... I'll probably be hitting up Weeds next.

The Office, as others have said. (Much funnier than 30 Rock if you ask me).

And also: Bones!! :)

Oh...Project Runway is so lovely-especially the first season! And you think you're late to the scene? Rich and I have been watching Northern Exposure...and it's just so fun!

I also love to watch all the Arrested Developments, and Coupling...

I try to limit my viewing to 5 shows a week (the Daily Show does not count) but I have a serious addiction to "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." It's so inappropriately funny. We missed season 3 because we did not have cable that year. The website had every single episode, but mid-season 3 viewing they yanked all but season 2.

I have been thinking about renting season 1 of "Big Love"

Hmm where do I start? Heroes. Lost. Grey's -- I love Ugly Betty mostly because of the set -- it's so colourful. But really I try not to watch THAT much tv... but it's still fun.

I'm sorry your cold has lingered. I hope you feel better soon.

We definitely watch the Office, just finished up Dexter (which has great moments but is probably closer to so-so overall), and are going to start watching Mad Men next, I think. If you don't mind DVDs of shows, Six Feet Under is the most brilliant series I've seen, bar none.

I don't watch the Biggest Loser, but my roommates and I got hooked a few years ago, and we'd cry each episode and cheer them on!

I get sucked into marathons of America's Next Top Model (but I never watch otherwise), LA Ink (girlcrush on Kat Von Dee). I have a guilty pleasure for Jon and Kate Plus 8, the kids are so cute, and look like they're related to me!

Mad Men is good, and I love Grey's Anatomy, even though it's getting dumb!

Feel better soon!
