Here and There and Here

Still no home internet connection. Still no photos to post here. But I did get a moment this afternoon at a friend's house to post a few more pairs of earrings in my etsy shop.
And today I learned that some things are the same no matter what city you're in. Case in point: the New York City and Portland DMVs both suck.

Yeah...nothing like making you homesick than going to the DMV eh? Lordy! They moved ours out to a weird location and made it bigger and more modern...which means twice as many chairs in rows that now face the doors to the bathrooms...weird!

Quite irritating when you do not have an internet connection at home. However, the earrings are pretty lovely.

After years of dealing with the CA-DMV in Los Angeles I was shocked when I had to go to the one in our little town. The funny thing is that when you go in the middle of the month the employees are just WAITING for someone to come in the door. I mentioned the no-line thing to the woman at the counter + she said it's the secret she wish more people knew about.

I had to renew my license on my birthday and for the first time in my life, I was out of the DMV in 10 minutes! I didn't know that was possible!

My last DMV visit was quite nice. Here there is a mobile DMV that sets up in parking lots. It was super quick. The only downside is that I was 8 months pregnant at the time, so now I have to live with a pregnant driver's license photo for 8 long years!!

Dear Suzy,

Just made my first purchase on your Etsy shop!!! And I see you have sold over 400 pieces - congratulations!

In the past I have hesitated when I have seen earrings I wanted and then they were gone. Will hesitate no more!

Good luck with the DMV - Love, Mom

icky, yucky DMV's!! I need to go to mine to get my ID photo retaken, and I'm totally putting it off because I dread the thought of spending a significant portion of my day stuck there! :p

Good to hear from you; hope everything is up and running soon for you!! :)

I've got to tell you, CA DMVs aren't any better... although the last time I went the San Diego one had a please take a number system so you didn't have to stand in line the whole time!

I think the DMV everywhere sucks! And I hope you get internet at home soon. Do you plan on continuing the earrings/inspired photos posts? I miss those!

Great new earrings you've got up in the shop. Wish I had some extra $$$ right now... the "Barrel of Fun" earrings have my name all over them!

In Las Vegas, people go to the DMV in the morning, go home to take a nap, (or bring picnic lunches) and return around 4PM. I literally waited there one summer for 6 hours! I did meet a cute guy though, and got a date out of it! A veeerrrry long time ago... ;)

Philly has Pendot, and it's actually much faster, under an hour. But I think the Philly locals are mad about that since they can't complain! LOL. Good luck!
